Welcome to the Oregon Trail Bar, a Mills, Wyoming landmark with a history as rich as the community it serves.
Our Story
The Oregon Trail Bar has been part of the fabric of Mills since the 1950s, but the building’s story begins even earlier. Originally constructed as a mercantile in 1923, it transformed into a bar during the post–World War II oil boom. For decades, it became the go-to spot for oil workers, truckers, and locals alike—so much so that regulars fondly nicknamed it the “Westside Petroleum Club.”
When the bar faced closure after its longtime owner retired, new ownership stepped in to keep the doors open. Today, under the leadership of Klaus Conrad Jr. and manager Corinna Gunyan, the Oregon Trail Bar remains true to its roots while welcoming a new generation of patrons. Corinna, who started working here in 2017, describes it best: “the cleanest dive you’ll ever visit.”
At the Oregon Trail Bar, you won’t find flashy gimmicks or loud chaos—you’ll find something better: a warm, down-to-earth gathering place. Our crowd tends to be loyal locals and longtime friends, enjoying classic rock and country music over a cold beer or a glass of whiskey. The bar is also filled with mementos from decades past, including a saddle gifted by a beloved regular, reminding us daily of the community we serve.
We’re proud to have “saved the Oregon Trail” and to continue offering a welcoming space for people to gather, relax, and connect. Whether you’re a longtime resident or just passing through, you’ll find that the Oregon Trail Bar is more than just a bar—it’s a living piece of Mills history.
